Bound
Stella Fass and Bella Finlayson are UK based theatre-makers and movement artists. They are brought together by a shared interest in how they can express the female body through a lens of community-driven storytelling, feminism, and protest.
Together they are creating ‘Bound’, a dark, grotesque exploration of restricted bodies. This movement performance film delves into the psychological and emotional impact of the ‘chilling effect’ on young female protesters. Using ropes and barriers as both physical and symbolic elements, the film portrays the emotional repercussions of the female body being controlled and manipulated, as well as the suffocating weight of surveillance, censorship and violent authorities. Using a soundscape of interviews from young female protesters in the UK, this film explores a physical manifestation of restraint, fear and frustration, creating a powerful visual statement on the complexity of protest and the silent ways in which the state stifles dissent.
