Shado is a lived-experience led community of artists, activists, organisers, creators and writers united in the fight for social justice and collective liberation. 

Protect the Protest is a competition bringing together illustrators from across Europe who will submit new work celebrating the power of protest as a positive tool to further the journeys of intersectional movements towards collective liberation. The winning applicants will receive cash prizes and their work will be publicly presented on billboards in the UK, furthering the vein of protesting by disrupting public space.

All submissions will be collated, alongside audio testimony from people from across Europe sharing stories of how protests have positively impacted their lives, into an interactive online map. At shado, we are informed by the belief that all systems of oppression – and therefore liberation – are interlinked: the project aims to stand as an interactive testament to this.
