Trust the Protest Zine - Counter narratives for the right to protest
Zines have traditionally been a subversive self-published media representing the voices of the marginalized. Together with people at protests in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, we aim to create editorials with the following titles and topics:
1) “Counter portraits” on challenging mainstream and state media portrayals of protestors.
2) “Co-creating care packages’’ on (the lack of) safety and protection at protests and what we ask of the state.
3) “Your word against mine” on the lack of accountability of law enforcement after excessive violence.
The process and production of the zine will be filmed and a short documentary about the subversive power of zines and protests will be released.
