The act of TEXtimoniar: Warps and Weaves to Transform Life

This project is coordinated by Costurero Kilómetros de Vida y de Memoria, a collective which uses weaving, embroidery and sewing as means to promote intergenerational, intercultural and intersectoral dialogues, focused on the construction of pedagogies of memory. Costurero Kilómetros de Vida y de Memoria has developed a pedagogical strategy to promote the critical appropriation of the Report of the Colombian Truth Commission. The strategy is based on generative dialogues and testimonial narratives through photography, textile art, psychodrama and sound expressions. In this project, they will address the notion of different truths by creating textile repertoires of emotive and political memories. They will use methodologies such as timelines and memory cartographies, linking them with the reading of the stories from the Truth Commission. In addition, they will create textile pieces in the form of the shell of a giant turtle, symbolising long-term transition processes.
